GRAVITATIONAL LENSING explained ( part 1 )

GRAVITATIONAL LENSING :

       INTRODUCTION:
In order to understand this phenomeom , we have to understand two things
                        1) what is gravitational Force ?
                        2) How lens works ?

GRAVITATIONAL FORCE :   we define gravity is something created when a heavy mass           is kept on space-time curvature . A body revolves around another body due to this curve             created .

LENS : lens is something where we can see the object bigger or smaller than it appear , we can see the virtual image or real image of the object , we can see upsidedwn position of object.

COMING TO THE POINT : Actually we can see the images of objects because light which is hitting the object reaches our eyes and our eyes will sense it , so the point is our eyes will track the  light backwards in straight line and after that we are able to see it's position.
We all know that light bends when it passes from one medium to another medium .

object looks bigger than it was.......
so same science will apply in gravitational lensing. Light travelling in space will bend when it passes through a massive celestial body and reaches our earth . after this our eyes will track the light in backward straight line and we see the body ( where the body is not exactly present ).
so due to this multiple images of one body will be found at diiferent places in space.

so you can see in the video , the light ray is being tilted when it is passing through the cluster of star.
there is a very special effect of this phenomenon called as " EINSTEIN RING ". It occurs when the body , cluster of stars and ( eye ) light receiver are alligned in straight line.
so since GRAVITY acts as LENS  here , we say it as GRAVITATIONAL LENSING.
